Factors of Professional Blogging

Professional blogging is a different game than hobby blogging. What do you need to do to transform your blog from a hobby blog to a professional blog?

There are two types of blogs on the internet. There are personal blogs which talk about your mood and perceptions, your attitudes toward life, and the statistics of Team You. These blogs are fun to read, and people read them for entertainment purposes. While you may get some visibility, you might not receive the same type of status as a professional blogger. Professional blogs are expert blogs which are run like a business. They usually handle a specific topic, and have all of the earmarks of a plan. If you want to make the transition between a personal and professional blog, here are some tips on how to run your blog like a business.

1. Content

The content which you provide to your readers is what will keep them coming back to your blog. If you have recycled, stale content in your blog, the readers will come once and then be shy about returning to your site. The people who make the most out of their blogs are the ones who have passion and fire behind them. When the readers know that you have put your whole effort into the creation of your posts on a consistent basis, they will come, enjoy your content, and return.

2. Outsource if Necessary

If you have passion about a topic, but are not able to write well, you may wish to consider outsourcing your blogging work to someone else. You can dictate your thoughts to someone, create videos to distribute within the internet, or have someone run with the topics that you have provided, but outsourcing is sometimes a necessary evil within business blogging. You might not have the time to learn a new skill, so you can outsource the creation of the website to someone else.

3. Service with a smile

Make sure that the customers know that you are listening. Respond to each of the comments that you receive while putting some of your primary keywords into those responses. Take the time to give your readers some great information, and they will respond with word of mouth advertising.

4. Solicit feedback

Not only should you respond to the comments that your readers have left, you should be vigilant in actively soliciting comments from your readers. Find out what you can improve with your site. Do not be afraid to run contests, or directly ask your readers to mentally change the colors of your site. Your blog is your home, but you want your readers to enjoy your offerings.

5. Know something

Do your research and see if there is a potential readership for your blog. If you are interested in pens, find out about the readership of the most popular pen blog. If you want to sell information products, make sure that those information products actually sell, rather than falling for the hype that some companies will provide.

Writing a business blog requires an entirely different mindset than writing a personal blog. There are concerns about content, service, feedback, and personal knowledge which come into play. These factors are not as prevalent in the personal blogging atmosphere, because people are reading for entertainment, rather than information.
